Inside the forest deep
rests on gallant wings
the breath of the mother
Green moss covered branches
and flame coloured leaves,
air pregnant–with the eternal cycle
a gracious dance–of life and decay
All of Spring’s fervor–
hopeful towards the sun
The Summer’s heat–
nourishing the fullest potential
Autumn’s glow shines
on Gaia’s abundant creation
In Winter’s icy grasp
dissolving–no resistance
Back into the earth
to be reborn–once again
a cycle as old as the universe
–or perhaps, even older?
A cycle as old as the universe - or perhaps, even older? Now we are getting somewhere!!
Looking outside my window and seeing all the leaves try on new fabrics of orange, red, and yellow, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this poem. The themes of life and decay, pregnancy and birth were very beautiful to me, particularly the lines "Green moss covered branches / and flame coloured leaves, / air pregnant–with / the eternal cycle / a gracious dance–of life and decay."
