Why?
- because ...
“But why? Why did you do it?”
“Why I built into my universe the chance to birth a being that is completely deranged from the get go? Evil, Sociopath, Psychopath as they would call it? That comes out as a disruptive factor and will be one no matter his circumstances?”
A thought pause.
“Entropy is a fundamental part of the universes. It is how things work. You know that.”
“Was it not sufficient to have the possibilities of natural disasters?”
Another thought pause.
“Natural disaster would not generate the same effect, the random results I am looking for. They are always predictable, no matter the type and strength. This inbuilt chance of evil has a chance to create new patterns. And growth. And even I do not know how far it goes. Sometimes it is just a small ripple, affecting only a few other humans. Sometimes it creates a legacy of the same behavior down the family line. And sometimes, that bad seed blooms into full-blown chaos that spans continents and overthrows the current order, annihilating the status quo.”
A breath as vast as the cosmos.
“But they always bounce back. The single human that breaks the family cycle. The group that changes direction. The collection that overcomes tyranny. And they are better for it.”
The equivalent of a chuckle—if eternity could do such a thing.
“It is fun to watch.”
“Fun?”
“Yes, fun. It makes me happy when they beat the odds. You disapprove?”
“It seems cruel.”
“Oh no. There is no progress without chaos. Again, you should know that. But I admit, sometimes I give them a hand. Move things around in big and small ways. Instill wisdom and knowledge. They call it inspiration. I do not want them to fail. I want them to make it, to grow, to evolve, and maybe one day—come home.”

The best excuse I heard for psychopaths to exist.
This puts me in a completely different mindset. I hardly ever think about giving birth to life because it is impossible for me to do so but I love this perspective. Hope all is going well, Ela!
